On April 27, 2017 at the Moscow House of Fashion Vyacheslav Zaitsev, with the support of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russi and the National Academy of Fashion Industry, the XXIV Competition of Professional Fashion Designers named after I. N. Lamanova.
Competition theme: "Revolution"
100 years ago, a political revolution took place in Russia, the most significant in the world history of modern times. This whirlwind mixed everything: destinies, families, foundations, concepts, values….
The theme of the competition, as always, is multilevel, because revolutions are not only bloody political meat grinders. There are revolutions in science, in all types of art, including in fashion: this is scrapping and changing formats, this is a new look at the familiar, this is the repression of stereotypes, the struggle for leadership, new technologies, materials, color combinations, concepts of space of self-expression and messages to contemporaries …
Nadezhda Lamanova, whose name our Competition bears, is, as they would say now, the most accurate screenshot of the revolutionary era. The brilliant and sought-after High Fashion Artist at the Tsar's Court received a lightning strike - the revolution of 1917. But She did not leave, did not run away - She accepted the Revolution, like Blok, like Mayakovsky, like Yesenin.
Nadezhda Petrovna breathed in the fresh winds deeply and began to work for a new country, leaving Haute Couture for constructivism, in search of new forms and solutions corresponding to the time. Constructivism gave rise to the stars of the sixties - Pierre Cardin and Andre Courrezh. As a method of work on a single constructive basis, Vyacheslav Zaitsev teaches it to his numerous students.
If we take fashion as art, as sincere creativity, then it will be a permanent "revolution" of design thinking.
We are waiting for new ideas, revelations, discoveries - success, colleagues!
