The first peonies bloomed at the XX Spring Flower Festival in the Botanical Garden of Moscow State University "Apothecary Garden".
The garden's collection includes both herbaceous and rare tree-like peonies.

Terry flowers of treelike reach a diameter of 20 cm and have a wide variety of colors - from pearl to dark purple, from lemon yellow to dark orange with burgundy edging.

More than 30 varieties of peonies, including rare ITO-hybrids of such varieties as 'Hillary', 'Bartzella' and others, are presented in the "Pharmaceutical Garden".

The homeland of peonies is Asia, Europe and western North America. In the middle of the twentieth century, it was in the "Aptekarsky Ogorod" that the domestic selection of these amazing plants began and the first Russian varieties appeared.

Now breeding work continues on the main territory of the Botanical Garden of Moscow State University on Vorobyovy Gory.

In the days of Confucius, peonies were used as a seasoning.

In addition, magnolias, lilacs, tulips, rhododendrons, daffodils, chestnuts, lilies of the valley and many other plants are blooming now.
