The lecture is divided into three parts. The first part deals with the ancient period of tea history.

According to legend, the beneficial properties of tea were discovered by the mythical ruler of antiquity Shen-nong (2737 BC). Tea grew wild in the southern regions of the country and was originally used by the peoples living here as a medicinal plant. Later, its leaves began to be used in everyday food along with rice, ginger, salt, spices, milk and onions. At this time, tea was not yet widespread in the center and in the north of the country.

The second part is devoted to the types of tea. Today, ten types of Chinese tea are distinguished only by the degree of fermentation, oxidation and combination of these processes, as well as roasting in metal vats, heating over coals, steaming, drying, as well as debating and fermenting tea leaves.

The lecture will conclude with a story about the further history of tea in China. In the late 5th - early 6th centuries, under the influence of Ch'an Buddhism, this drink was used in monastic rituals, and then during the Tang period (618-907) it spread throughout the country. This time is considered the "golden age of tea" - having absorbed the elements of ancient rituals, the cult of tea has become an important part of the spiritual culture of China.

Particular attention will be paid to the composition of the Gongfu Cha tea ceremony, which is based on four moral and ethical norms formed on the basis of Ch'an Buddhism (harmony, reverence, purity, silence), as well as the composition of the poet Lu Yu (733-804) "Tea Canon" …
