The Fashion House of Tatiana Parfenova became the headliner of the opening of Tokyo Fashion Week, which began on Monday 14 October. According to the famous fashion analyst Alexander Khilkevich, the St. Petersburg brand is the first Russian participant in the official schedule of the Week. The collection of the spring-summer 2020 season under the name "Black Dragonfly" includes 35 fancy elaborately decorated dress-"paintings" of the ready-to-wear deluxe class in the brand Parfen wearable art style.

Models above and below the knee are adorned with elaborate embroidery depicting water, lily pads, sedge, horsetail, fern leaves, clouds and dragonflies. Moreover, each of the motives has its own hidden meaning: an island of leaves on the water symbolizes stability in a changing world, and a dragonfly, as a symbol of a samurai, symbolizes fortitude.

As Tatyana Parfenova noted, “no other wardrobe item tells a woman's story better than a dress. The dress is universal, it can be combined with anything - both with trousers and with an oversized jacket”. Also, specially for the show, the designer has developed a line of shoes in the style of the collection.

Parfenova's team arrived in Tokyo in the midst of the typhoon, which, of course, made everyone worried, but thanks to the clear actions of the Japanese, the elements did not affect the fashion Week shows. Tatyana Parfenova highly appreciated the general level of organization of the event, as well as the quality of the work of hairdressers and makeup artists (the Shiseido team worked with her models). In total, 90 people were involved in the preparation of Parfenova's show from the Japanese side.

The show itself was a resounding success. It was hard to believe that the reserved Japanese could react so passionately. “They are incredibly sensitive to beauty,” Aleksandr Khilkevich reports Parfenova's words.

The Japanese media began to talk about the upcoming show and the Parfenova Fashion House long before the start of the Week. And at a press conference after the defile, one of the journalists compared her feelings from what she saw with a flight into space.

As Alexander Khilkevich notes, the work of the showroom has now begun. Meetings with international buyers who have shown an active interest in the brand's clothing and accessories (embroidered scarves, bags, shoes) have already been scheduled until the end of this week.
