When we hear that another Russian designer has received an invitation to a prestigious fashion week, our hearts are filled with legitimate pride mixed with anxiety: how jaded fashion critics will react to a very peculiar “Russian” style, will we not hear sarcastic remarks about the designer. The last reason for such anxiety was the demonstration of the new collection of Valentin Yudashkin at Milan Fashion Week.
We can immediately reassure the fans of the talented Russian fashion designer. The collection of the master made the most favorable impression on the most picky critics. And only one moment caused some bewilderment among fashion specialists (which, I must admit, we fully share). The items presented were made at such a high technical level that they were sure to be on display during the Haute Couture Week in Paris.
Elegant, airy toilets reminiscent of the fashion of the 40s of the last century, dramatic lines, hints of androgyny, memories of the unsurpassed style of Marlene Dietrich with her love of men's suits, luxurious furs and evening dresses that Greta Garbo could easily wear - the collection won hearts Italians and became one of the discoveries of Milan Fashion Week. Well, so much the worse for Paris!
