Recently departed, Azzedin Alaya was a master sculptor from fashion who painstakingly created his creations, striving for perfection. It is his influence that is so clearly noticeable in the new collection of Yoji Yamamoto, who pays homage to the great couturier, adding him to endless variations of sculptural hypertrophies of his vision of structuralism. Yoji Trowels works with shapes, layers and textures, but at the same time his models remain elegant, without a hint of bulkiness or roughness. And even the second source of inspiration - Pablo Picasso's cubism - does not allow images to become prickly and aggressive, but only adds intelligence and depth. Plus, Yamamomto brings back total black to his magnificent meditation collection!
