Last week, the MoMu Fashion Museum in Anwerp presented a new exhibition, Dries Van Noten: Inspirations. The exhibition examines the work of the famous designer and tries to assess his role in the development of the global fashion industry. Previously, the project was exhibited at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris, where, by the way, it became the first French exhibition dedicated to the Belgian designer.

This exposition invites visitors on an intimate journey into the designer's artistic universe, where he reveals the peculiarities of his creative process, illustrates it with numerous sources of inspiration. The project brings together different artistic fields through historical, pictorial, ethnic, cinematic and geographic references. Dries draws inspiration from 19th century culture, as well as the work of iconic couturiers such as Elsa Schiaparelli and Christian Dior. In addition, the designer is obviously inspired by the eighties, which he passes through his heart. The exhibition shows the influence on Van Noten, but also emphasizes the individual characteristics of his work and stylistic vocabulary.

In addition to clothing items, the exposition includes photographs, video clips, musical references, as well as works by famous artists from public and private collections that excite Dries' imagination. Visitors will be able to see masterpieces by Bronzino, Kees Van Dongen, Yves Klein, Victor Vasarely, Francis Bacon, Elizabeth Peyton and Damien Hirst, as well as key films including Stanley Kubrick and Jane Campion.

The exhibition is open to the public at the MoMu Fashion Museum in Antwerp until July 19, 2015.
