Fashion and art go hand in hand. However, there has never been such a project, which works in the Parisian Museum of Arts decoratifs. The work of fashion designer Dries van Noten is exhibited here along with recognized masterpieces from around the world.

“The multidisciplinary exhibition is not a retrospective of a designer's career, but rather introspection and an opportunity to see things through the eyes of Dries,” explains curator Pamela Golbin. This is indeed a very ambitious project that includes more than four hundred exhibits. Things from the designer's collections are here side by side with clothes and objects of art that stimulated his imagination throughout his career.

On display are a butterfly dress designed by Elsa Schiaparelli in 1937 and a work by Damien Hirst, created in 2007 from thousands of butterfly wings. In addition, there are dresses from Balenciaga, Dior, Vivienne Westwood and Versace, as well as paintings from the 16th century to Rothko, Picasso and Francis Bacon and contemporary music from Jimi Hendrix to Sex Pistols.

The exhibition attracted a colossal number of guests; about three thousand people visit it every day. The project has been extended until November 2014. In February, the exposition will move to Antwerp, and in mid-2015 to New York.
