The June issue of Vogue magazine is entirely devoted to the union of contemporary art and fashion. Dasha Zhukova, founder of the Garage Center for Contemporary Culture, became its guest editor.

“Our magazine talks about fashion, and fashion today is also a form of contemporary art,” says Victoria Davydova, editor-in-chief of Vogue. - The two worlds are charged from each other with energy and ideas. The classics of the avant-garde are recognized in the colors of the dresses, and the artists play on the dresses of the leading designers and the images created by the style icons of different decades in their performances. It was no coincidence that we invited Dasha Zhukova to cooperate: the head of the leading center for contemporary art in Russia, a collector, a muse of designers and just a fashionista, she lives with fashion and art every day. Dasha brought this sense of the unity of fashion, art and life to the pages of Vogue."

The pages of the art issue include not only a lot of fashion shootings inspired by the works of avant-garde artists. Vogue visited the houses of the world's first fashionistas - among them Dasha Zhukova, Naomi Campbell, Shala Monrock - and found out which contemporary artists they collect and why. Photographer Annie Leibovitz, whose exhibition is opening soon at the Hermitage, gave us a great interview, in which she talked about working on a new, very unexpected album. Miuccia Prada spoke about her contemporary art foundation. Curator of the Venice Biennale Biche Curiger - guided through the pavilions of the participating countries. Finally, we have brought together works made especially for Vogue at different times by outstanding artists - from Picasso and Dali to Vinogradov and Dubossarsky.

“My interest in contemporary art arose by itself, during children's games, conversations, meetings. Along with interest, artistic preferences also appeared, a circle of favorite artists formed. And then it turned out that this circle can be drawn endlessly. Contemporary art is a kind of chronicle of our time: just like modern life, it can irritate, delight or leave indifferent. And the way you love him depends only on you,”says Dasha Zhukova, the ideological inspirer of the unique center of contemporary culture“Garage”.

The June issue of Vogue Art & Fashion magazine will come with two different covers. The collection edition will be decorated with a work by the contemporary Italian artist Francesco Vezzoli, made especially for Russian Vogue. This is "Portrait of Polina Porizhkova as a Renaissance Madonna crying precious tears of Salvador Dali (based on Lorenzo Lotto)", which continues the cycle of his works entitled "Sacrilege". Acting at the intersection of fashion and art is the signature style of the Milanese. His work has taken part in several Venice Biennials, and the Los Angeles Museum of Modern Art (MOSA) invited him to stage a festive performance in honor of his thirtieth birthday.

Collector's issue of Vogue magazine, which will be presented in a limited edition of 500 copies. Those who wish will be able to purchase it only in the bookstore of the Garage Center for Contemporary Culture. Sales start on May 28, 2011.
