On February 10, a personal exhibition of the photographer Yegor Zaika "Craft" was opened in the mansion of State Councilor Spiridonov, in Maly Gnezdnikovsky Lane, 9/8, building 1
Friends and colleagues came to enjoy creativity and congratulate Yegor on the opening of the exhibition: Konstantin Andrikopulos, Olga Shelest, Sofiko Shevardnadze, Vlad Lisovets, Miroslava Duma, Oksana Kutuzova, Danila Polyakov, Alex Di, Marusya Ilchenko, Maria Vernik, Alexander Rappoport, Mikhail Druyan, Vladislav Loktev, Svetlana Maniovich.
Yegor Zaika, one of the most famous Russian photographers, presented the exhibition project "Craft" to the public. From thousands of photographs created over the past 7 years, the author selected 32 works, guided by very strict criteria. Impeccable workmanship and a powerful creative charge allow these works to live outside of time and fashion trends.
None of these works have ever been exhibited in their original performance. Many photographs have been published in magazines: Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Elle, Icons, InStyle, Citizen K, Tattler. The viewers saw some of the photos for the first time. Some of the reproductions have been exhibited during the Fashion and Style in Photography (MDF) festivals.
Among the portraits presented is a black and white photo session with the Klitschko brothers in the title role, in which the author managed to create unusually characteristic images of the main characters using several classical techniques. The mood of this episode subtly resembles the work of the classic American documentary photo reporter Viji. At the exhibition, viewers saw portraits of Yulia Tymoshenko. For several hours, the Prime Minister of Ukraine posed for a photographer in her Kiev home. The result of this many hours of work was quite unexpected and surprisingly feminine portraits of the heroine of the "Orange Revolution". For the first time, the viewer saw private portraits of Olga Slutsker, Ekaterina Gomiashvili, Denis Simachev and Shakhri Amirkhanova. There are also photographs of fashion and portraits created by order of publications. It takes several days of preparation to create each photo, the work of a large team - thanks to which not a single detail goes unnoticed. Yegor Zaika belongs to the old, classical school of photography. All works are staged. The author rarely resorts to retouching, thus achieving a documentary effect.
"I welcome the pragmatic approach: creativity before shooting, craft in the process." - Yegor Zaika.
The format of works is from 30 x 40 cm to 100 x 150 cm. Black and white silver-gelatin prints and color c-prints. Analog photos are hand-printed. Black and white digital photographs printed in Paris on barite paper. All photographs are printed and decorated in accordance with museum standards. Within the framework of the exhibition, an album of photographs was presented (format 24x32 cm, 56 pages, circulation of 500 copies).
The exhibition "Craft" will be held from 11 to 17 February, in the mansion of State Councilor Spiridonov, at the address: Maly Gnezdnikovsky lane, 9/8, building 1, from 12.00 to 20.00. Free admission
