“Affordable Fashion” is not a myth or a utopia, but a motto supported by Hollywood stylist Leslie Freemar, working together with MEGA shopping centers to create a collection of fashionable looks. Especially for the Fashion Weeks in MEGA project, Leslie selected five key trends of the current season and demonstrated how, drawing inspiration from the collections of famous designers, combining items from brands presented in MEGA shopping centers, to create no less original and stylish looks.
“In my daily life, I always combine designer clothes with more affordable brands, for example, H&M, Zara, Topshop, GAP. I think these brands are doing a great job producing clothes that are in line with the latest catwalk trends. My advice: follow the fashion reviews, read glossy magazines, get inspired by fashion shows and come to MEGA, you can create a unique, contemporary look,”says Leslie Freemar, visiting stylist at MEGA shopping centers for Autumn-Winter 2011/12.
Leslie told the readers of her blog fashion.megamall.ru/leslie about what to get inspired and what to look for in stores this season.
Material: leather and fur
Leather, presented in almost all autumn-winter collections, continues to be one of the most fashionable materials. Designers offer both full dressing in leather and the use of separate details, for example, leather cuffs or belts. Fur is another favorite of the season. Fur collars adorn fitted jackets, fur sleeves - a coat of a classic cut. The color palette is bright and rich: emerald, violet, indigo, chocolate and purple colors prevail in the collections.
Transparent organza details are found in the fall-winter collections of Givenchy, Louis Vuitton, BottegVenet and other famous designers. This fabric looks most effective in skirts and dresses. Feminine and airy, organza not only makes the look sexy, but also visually stretches the silhouette. The combination of transparent fabric with polka dots is another undeniable trend of the season.
Bold and catchy, red is the number one winter color. A few examples: Prada scarlet coats and bags, Gucci cherry burgundy and terracotta rusty dresses, Balenciaga crimson trousers. This trend proves once again how different red can be. The experts advise: add it everywhere.
Pattern: polka dots
Delicate and flirty pattern, polka dots are an absolute trend of the season. It gives the restrained autumn-winter time a joyful and festive mood. Designers play with both the size of the peas and the combinations of colors and shades, offering the most daring and unpredictable options. Diane von Furstenberg “scattered” peas on dresses, StellMcCartney and Marc Jacobs “pasted” peas over skirts, tights, dresses and tops.
Experiments with prints are present this winter in the collections of most designers. Ethnic motives are intertwined with floral patterns, traditional peas are in harmony with geometric abstract forms. Do not be afraid to mix things with different patterns: eclecticism is more popular today than ever.
