The Independent reported last Friday that the Australian supermarket chain Coles has removed the January issue of Harper's Bazaar from sales across the country. The strange decision was made due to customer complaints about the cover featuring a nude supermodel Miranda Kerr. “In response to complaints from our customers, many of whom shop with their children, we have removed the magazine from sale,” commented Coles management. In addition, the company said in a statement that the magazine cover was inappropriate.

Kelly Hush, editor-in-chief of the Australian version of Harper's Bazaar, in turn, said that she was disappointed with this decision. “The cover features a beautiful artistic image captured by one of Australia's top photographers, Stephen Chee. I have received so many positive responses around the world and I am ashamed that Coles does not understand the artistic integrity of this image,”explained Kelly.
