Starting with the Cheap Mondey skinny jeans line, the brand has become for Stockholm what Levis has become for San Francisco for 10 years of the brand's existence. And in the year of their anniversary, they try to look at the world without the gloominess inherent in their collections, proportionally mix disco and punk, teenage rebellion and the desire of a mature person to look unusual, deliberately shock the public. As with some of the pieces shown during Men's Fashion Week, the casual, colorful, and textured mix of materials in one ensemble is brought to the fore. The amount of black is reduced to a minimum - this is, perhaps, partly a forced step: its popularity both on the catwalks and in street fashion already borders on the mass one, it is time to change the trend until it is brought to the point of absurdity.
Spring 2015 from Cheap Monday brings back washed and bleached denim, which did not live up to expectations in the summer of 2014 due to too hot weather, ripped trousers, rough work sundresses and jackets. The main materials of the season, if we forget from the jeans traditional for the brand, are jersey and cotton jersey. The main direction is layering and abstraction. You are at the height of fashion if you look like you were dressing in a hurry, grabbing things from a common pile, and on the way you hit the doorframe a couple of times. Forget about patches, darning and appliqués, spring offers completely different solutions for deterioration, all the holes in the clothes should be visible. High renaissance, which has taken over high fashion, on the streets turns into holey jackets of students and dresses from the foreign shoulder of mercenaries.
Inscriptions and logos on clothes are no longer centered, moreover, the letters themselves are now print elements. What is important is not the meaning of what is written, not the abstract slogan on the T-shirt, as this year, but the outline, the arrangement of the signs relative to each other. An interesting fetish for Cheap Monday in 2015 is mesh structures and stripes. Tops, skirts made of knitwear and knitted sweaters that look like blank honeycombs are found in several ensembles as an additional layer, adding curiosity to the image or referring to subcultural roots - in different years, similar things were worn by those who are fond of Gothic and regulars of discos.
Stripes - symmetrical, abstract, and even in the form of a conventional animal skin pattern - are even more widespread. They are most noticeable, perhaps, in the stockings with which each lookbook model is equipped. They emphasize shoes with a heavy rubber platform, the growing popularity of chunky shoes, and cropped trouser legs, and the length of skirts, which is still medium.
