Vilebrequin presents a collaboration with Derrick Adams. The original print, based on the "Floater" series by artist Derrick Adams, is an ode to the fun of the beach world. Part of the proceeds from the sale of this collaboration will go to the Eubie Blake Cultural Art Center in Baltimore. Vilebrequin's collaboration with multidisciplinary artist Derrick Adams embodies the optimistic spirit of the American Dream.
Throughout his adult life, Adams has been exploring various forms of art: painting, collage, sculpture, performance, and also studies the influence of pop culture on the formation of self-image of a person.
This one-of-a-kind limited edition print inspired by the Adams' Floater series depicts African Americans (men, women and children) relaxing on whimsical swan, duck and unicorns with rainbow mane. Derrick's work reflects the carefree joy of relaxation - a fresh take on American illustration art. A bright turquoise color serves as a backdrop against which spectacular combinations of shades of lemon, fuchsia and lime are superimposed.
Vilebrequin CEO Roland Erloli on his collaboration with Derrick Adams: “It is a great honor for Vilebrequin to partner with Derrick and present his new print design. His famous Floater range is perfect for Vilebrequin because summer, fun and great leisure are at the heart of our brand's DNA.”
“The unicorn-shaped inflatable swimming ring was created by me last year. Ideally, I wanted to complement it with beach shorts featuring my Floater artwork, but I put that aside … A few months later, I received an email with a collaboration offer from one of my most respected beachwear brands, Vilebrequin. I hope you enjoy these swim shorts as much as I do,”says artist Derrick Adams of his partnership with Vilebrequin.
