Marusya Zaitseva, the third generation of the Zaitsev dynasty, made her solo debut at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russi with a collection of the fall-winter 2012 / 13 Landing at the Hudson river or "A real stewardess smiles to the end."
As in the diploma collection, the declared topic is revealed by the method of external signs, which are quite easy to read: applications, symbolic drawings of an airplane, fish / dolphins, broken lines of a cardiogram, a keyhole - as a sign of light at the end of the tunnel (?).
The plot of the show plays up the fall of the plane and the death of its passengers - and the drowned, as we know, become mermaids, which is exactly what happens. The final "mermaid" image, in my opinion, is the strongest in the collection - for all the beauty of the textured skin of electric blue color of the first dress and the men's vest (clearly inspired by the life jacket), the delicate wrinkled turquoise of the leather jacket pleases with the originality of reading this rather banal object wardrobe. The jacket has unusual sleeves, a specific asymmetry and a torn bottom edge, coupled with a crinkled texture, creates a relaxed and at the same time relevant image.
In my opinion, the collection is somewhat similar to the coloring after it has been in the hands of a child. This is neither good nor bad, but it says that the young designer has nothing to say yet, hence the abstraction of the plot. However, this is only the beginning of the path - it’s already interesting what will happen next.
