On October 16, the Timberland flagship store at 35 Arbat Street hosted a presentation of the "Nature awaits heroes" campaign in Public Talk format.
The speakers of the event were: Irina Kozlovskikh - eco-activist, digital coordinator of the Greenpeace project "Zero Waste", Oleg Ternovoy - artist, winner of the first season of "Songs" on TNT, WWF ambassador of the "Guardians of the Forest" project and Tatiana Shenderman, brand manager of Timberland in Russia. Moderator of the evening - Katarina Pudar - TV and radio presenter, author of the “ENVIRONMENTAL” column.
Conceptually, the “Nature Awaits Heroes” campaign is new for the brand, but from a philosophy point of view, Timberland has been responsible for its production from the very beginning, trying to minimize its impact and impact on the environment. This year, Timberland is announcing its intention to plant 50 million trees by 2025, and to continue working in areas such as plastic recycling and urban and parkland beautification as part of its Earth Day volunteer program for employees and partners. At the moment, more than 10 million trees have already been planted, since 2001, more than 345 million plastic bottles have been processed and used in the brand's products, and 1.5 million hours have been invested Timberland's community service teams around the world to help the environment and nature since 1992.
At Public Talk, speakers touched upon such important topics as the problem of overconsumption and tree planting.
Irina Kozlovskikh (Greenpeace) spoke about useful habits that instill awareness of consumption: “Every year there are about 20 new things per person in the world, which seems not so much, but if this figure is multiplied by the entire population of the earth, it turns out that we we produce in a year, and then we throw out about 140 billion! This figure is terrifying, but we are able to "vote with a wallet" and make it a habit to choose high-quality things that will serve us for a long time."
Oleg Ternovoy (WWF ambassador of the Forest Guardians project): “The forest is the lungs of our planet. And now humanity is behaving like a virus that is rapidly destroying them. Because of this, every year it is harder and harder for our planet to breathe, and very soon it may suffocate altogether. Therefore, it is very important to popularize the movement for the protection of nature and forests and raise it to the rank of fashion."
In connection with such an important campaign for the brand, Timberland is launching the Nature Awaits Heroes competition to support environmental initiatives in Russia
Timberland will be happy to award cash prizes and gifts from the brand to environmental projects in several areas: Nature Conservation and Ecology in Russia and Environmental Coverage Through Art.
Anyone who has already launched their environmental project or a startup project that has not yet been launched, but already has an implementation plan, can take part in the competition. Timberland is pleased to support heroes as they take steps towards the future of our planet on a non-profit basis. Nature needs every hero.
