"Provincial Style - 2014". Nomination "Pret-a-porter"

May 17 - 18, 2014 in sunny and hot summer Voronezh for the 12th time the final of the competition of young fashion designers took place within the framework of the International Festival of Design and Fashion "Provincial Style".

The jury, chaired by V. M. Zaitsev, 109 collections of participants from thirty-one regions of Russia and China were presented.

The competition dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of Mikhail Lermontov and the Year of Culture in Russia was held in several nominations: "Pret-a-porter", "Business Idea", "Ethnostyle", "Debut", "Creative", "Performance ".

The audience warmly greeted the collections presented in the Performance category, especially mini-performances dedicated to the Russian national costume. These are not just collections, they are the origins of Russian culture, the revival of folk images and traditions.

For myself at the competition, I noted two important points. The first is the number of participants. When asked why there are so many, Nikolai Sapelkin, Academician of NAIM, producer of the Gubernsky Style festival, director of the Autonomous Non-profit Organization House of Designer (Voronezh), answered me: “We almost never refused anyone, even if the collections are obviously weak. Some of the participants do not have enough experience and knowledge, but by participating in such contests, they learn, watch, assess their chances, and receive useful advice from professionals. It is important to understand in time whether they are on the right path. Today it is fashionable to get creative professions - photographers, designers … But not everyone thinks that for this you need to study seriously, work hard, form your horizons, study the history of costume and art. Our competition allows the participants to understand how good they are, in which direction to move and develop."

The second, very important point, which pleased me, was the communication of the contestants with experts and the analysis of their collections (after the competition). Everyone could get a detailed analysis of their collection, find out about the shortcomings, ask for advice. In fact, this is a unique opportunity for a free master class from reputable industry professionals. For example, Katya Rebezha, a two-time winner, and since this year also the president of the Gubernsky Style festival, told how the advice and constructive criticism of Alexander Khilkevich, fashion analyst, academician of NAIM, played an important role in her development as a designer.

The winners of the "Gubernsky Style" will take part in the partner fashion projects "Russian Silhouette", "Admiralty Needle", "Podium" and other Russian and international design forums.

The Gubernsky Style Design and Fashion Festival is one of the projects of the National Academy of Fashion Industry and, at the same time, the official selection ground for nominating applicants for the Golden Spindle National Award in the Fashion Industry.

The Grand Prix "Provincial Style - 2014" was awarded to Olga Neretina and Natalia Pogorelskikh for the men's collection "Somebody new". They will fight for the coveted statuette in the "Debut" nomination of the "Golden Spindle" award in 2015 and a financial reward in the amount of 300,000 thousand rubles. The winner's teacher-mentor also receives a crystal palm in the nomination "For contribution to the training of personnel in the fashion industry" and a financial reward of 300,000 rubles.
