For the first time since 1993, the Belgian designer and current creative director of Calvin Klein has won two of the highest awards at the Union of American Fashion Designers at once.

The CFDA organization's annual awards ceremony took place the other day. This time, everyone was surprised by Raf Simons, who won two main nominations. The designer took away from the gala evening the statuettes for recognition as "The best designer of menswear" and "The best designer of womens clothing". Simons accomplished such a feat only once, back in 1993.
Another prestigious award - the International CFD Award - went to the creative director of vetements and Balenciag, Demna Gvasalia. Stuart Vevers was chosen as Designer of the Year, recently leading and successfully developing the Coach brand. Rick Owens took a special prize - the Geoffrey Bean Special Achievement Award. For the first time, the CFD jury has presented a makeup award to famed makeup artist Pat McGrath. In the category "Fashion Icon", the award was awarded posthumously to Franca Sozzani.
