Perhaps Roberto Cavalli himself has already passed over sixty, but the designer has not at all lost the spirit of rebellious youth. At least, this is evidenced by his latest collection of spring-summer 2004, presented at Fashion Week in Milan, which was a mixture of two main sports trends - `yachtsman style` and` jockey style`.
The couturier's eccentricity and healthy optimism continue to amaze the audience, which was literally dumbfounded when he, with a careless gesture, opened the curtain separating the catwalk from the room in which the models dressed in leopard-print underwear were changing. The same motif prevailed in loose cotton and silk shirts, trousers and shorts. The collection surprisingly combines humor and undisguised eroticism.
Cavalli continues to be one of the most talented cutters in the fashion industry. His latest find, the heavily cropped riding trousers, has garnered much acclaim from the fashion industry, as has his magnificent leather work that has been manipulated into something quite akin to a soft satin of blues and reds.
