The artistic director of the Moscow Children's Variety Theater Valentin Ovsyannikov presented the musical performance The Blue Bird, based on the play by Maurice Maeterlinck. The theater will open its 26th theatrical season with the official premiere of the performance on 26 September.

The blue bird, with the light hand of Maurice Maeterlinck, has become a symbol of the eternally elusive human Happiness, a symbol of dreams, faith in the best, hope for finding a decent life. Perhaps, for each person individually, and for humanity as a whole, there is no more important topic than the search for this very Happiness.
Happiness is impossible without a home, family and parents…. “Hymn to Mother's Love” - it was under this leitmotif that the play was created by director Igor Bunakov, composer Valentin Ovsyannikov and poet Mikhail Mikhailov.
The Blue Bird is a story about brother and sister Tiltil (Yan Yankevich) and Mityl (Elizaveta Gorlova), who, on the eve of Christmas, go in search of a ghostly Blue Bird that can help a sick girl. An exciting journey awaits them, thanks to which they will learn to look at the world with different eyes. They will understand that the Blue Bird has always been with them, that their home is beautiful, and their mother is the most wonderful and beautiful in the world. And their poor, but full of love life, they will not exchange for any cakes in the world!

The actors involved in the play, in a matter of seconds, transform into Fire and Water, then into Night and Light. Only brother and sister Tiltil and Mityl remain unchanged, and their favorites - Cat Tiletta and Dog Tilo, quarrels between which cause a sea of smiles and laughter, especially among young viewers. Here you will find talking sugar and bread, and you will get acquainted with the many bliss. Looking at “The bliss of sleeping and doing nothing”, “the bliss of being rich and eating when you don't feel hungry,” you will understand that the best of the Beatitudes is the bliss of being Healthy, breathing air, admiring the blue sky and the bliss of Loving your parents.

The performance design deserves no less attention than the philosophical component. Bright costumes (costume designer Victoria Dubrova), spectacular lighting design (lighting designer Alexander Korolev), fast-changing scenery (set designer Victoria Dubrova), catchy melodies and lyrics by composer Valentin Ovsyannikov and poet Mikhail Mikhailov create a unique atmosphere of kindness, warmth and sincerity, which are so lacking in modern everyday life.
The performance can be watched over and over again, and every time you find there something new and always beautiful!
