The British Council announced the art exhibition “Oscar Wilde. Aubrey Beardsley. View from Russia ", which will be held from September 23 to November 16, 2014 at the Pushkin Museum im. Pushkin. The gallery of art from the countries of Europe and America of the 19th - 20th centuries will host a unique exhibition as part of the Cross Year of Culture of Great Britain and Russia 2014.

The exhibition will feature about 150 works, including drawings and a series of prints for Oscar Wilde's play "Salome" by Aubrey Beardsley, works of Russian Beardsleyists, Russian and British art magazines, in which Beardsley, Wilde and their followers, books and autographs of Wilde, photographs and archival materials.
As you know, the refined works of Oscar Wilde made him the main esthete and trendsetter at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries and allowed readers to join the ideas of aestheticism. Exquisite illustrations by Aubrey Beardsley inspired the creators and designers of the first art and later fashion magazines. Two great stylists with a refined sense of taste will be presented for the first time in Russia within the framework of one exhibition.
